Frequently Asked Questions
The design and ordering process is simple. It starts with you providing us your coin ideas and any reference images or logos you want incorporated in your coin design. You can email this information to us directly, fill out a quote form, or use our live chat. We’d also be happy to talk through the details on the phone. We then take your ideas and give them to one of our professional graphic designers. They create a digital mock-up, which we call a proof, that shows you what the finished coin will look like. We email that to you for your review. Along with this proof, we will include a price quote. The price quote is dependent on the design, quantity, and coin size. If the design is perfect on the first try (always our goal), you can place the order, and we’ll begin production! If the design isn’t there yet, just let us know what you’d like changed and our team will revise the design until it’s just right with no costs or obligation to order.
We offer gold, silver and copper platings standard with our orders. We also offer upgraded antique finishes that give an aged look to your coins. Antique finishes help greatly when your design is mostly metal (die struck) as the darker recessed areas provide a greater contrast for text and fine lines. We also offer some specialty colored metals that have a similar appearance to powder-coating (no charge), black nickel (a shiny gunmetal appearance), and now an iridescent rainbow plating (price on request)
We can manufacture your coins in most any shape. They do not have to be circular like traditional coins are. Our galleries have some examples of unique shape we’ve done in the past but the limits on shapes don’t start until your (and our) imagination ends!
The minimum order is 50 coins, but we always recommend ordering 100 due to the quantity discount at this quantity. Typically ordering 100 coins is only ~20% more expensive than ordering 50.
Our coins are made from brass metal if they are round. If the coins are a special shape or feature a high-relief 3D design, the material is a zinc alloy. We can also make coins out of copper, iron, and aluminum depending on your needs.
You cannot use another customer’s mold, but you can reuse molds from your previous order as long as the original challenge coin and the new custom challenge coin are the same size and shape.
We keep your coin's mold for a period of 3 years. If you reorder in that 3 year period, the 3 year storage period starts over!
We have multiple options for production location depending on your design choice and budget. We have manufacturing here in Florida and also overseas. Please consult with one of our sale professionals about what will work best for your challenge coin order.
We accept all major credit cards (including government purchasing cards), and checks. We can also accept wire transfers. Contracts/purchase orders are accepted only under the following conditions:
- Must be issued by a government entity, public school, or hospital
- Must appear on company letterhead, signed and dated
- Terms must explicitly state NET30
- Total must match the entire total of the order as listed
You do not pay for a mold fee again on a reorder as long as the previous mold is still on file (kept for 3 years from the latest order date).
We offer free UPS Air Shipping to all physical addresses in the 48 contiguous states only. Please let your sales person know of your desired delivery address, if outside the contiguous 48 states, so they can provide a quote on your shipping costs.
We ship to APO/FPO/DPO addresses but do charge extra for this service. We offer free UPS Air Shipping to all physical addresses in the 48 contiguous states only.
If your coin is shipping to a United States address, your typical production time is 10-14 business days for manufacturing and 2 business days for shipment transit. All other destinations' delivery times vary based on the service selected.
When you request shipping to an APO/FPO address, we have to first ship the order from our manufacturing facility to our corporate headquarters here in Florida. This is because our shipping company, UPS, does not deliver directly to APO/FPO/PO Boxes. When we receive your coins, we repackage them and send them via USPS to you.
We recommend that you do not fax us images for reference as faxes come through black and white only. Sending us an email with a scan attached or texting us a cellphone picture typically works much better.
We prefer images to be in a vector format. .EPS and .AI formats make our artists happiest, but we can also work with most other files whether vector (.CDR), normal raster images (.JPG, .GIF, .PNG, .BMP, .TIFF and .PSD), or documents (.DOCX, .PPTX, .PDF, etc.). We now have clients that send 3D files too. Right now, .STL files work best.
